A concert displaying the virtuosity of the Sammamish Symphony in compositions from three different centuries. Johann Sebastian Bach's mighty Fantasia and Fugue in c, originally for organ, is transformed into an imposing work for orchestra by Edward Elgar (famous for his "Enigma" Variations). Robert Schumann's charming Overture, Scherzo and Finale, essentially a miniature symphony, is given an all-too-rare performance. The program concludes with music by Carl Nielsen, Denmark's greatest composer: the kaleidoscopic and romantic Symphony No. 3, dubbed "Sinfonia Espansiva" by Nielsen himself.
